VINTAGE (1960s) PORTMEIRION MAGIC CITY DINNER/COFFEE SET BY SUSAN WILLIAMS-ELLIS. This is a Vintage (1960s) Portmeirion Magic City pattern dinner/coffee set (40 pieces). Susan Williams Ellis was an important figure in twentieth century English pottery. As well as being an influential pottery designer, she was. Co-founder of Portmeirion Pottery with her husband (Euan Cooper Willis).

This is a delightful iconic 1960's, 40-piece Portmeirion'Magic City' Dinner/Coffee Set, designed by Susan Williams-Ellis, with the renowned oval back stamp to the base of each piece (except saucers & coffee side plates) identifying its authenticity. This dinner/coffee set comprises of, 1 tall coffee pot and lid, 1 milk jug, 1 sugar bowl, 6 coffee cups (can shape), 6 saucers, 6 coffee side plates, 6 cake plates, 6 luncheon/desert plates, 6 dinner plates and 1 large oval dish.

The coffee pot, milk jug and cups have an Art Deco Style angular handles, the set having a design of different shapes in shades of green, brown, white and orange on a black background, complimented with white handles, spouts and trims. The sizes are approximate and the set consists of 1 coffee pot, 12 high, 300 mm.

, 6 dinner plates, 10 ¼ 260 mm. And 1 oval dish, 15 long, 380 mm. This beautiful Dinner/Coffee Set is over 50 years old, it was pre-owned, in good condition, some of it looks unused, does not have any chips or cracks, but the usual scrapes and slight marks (there is some crazing here and there, but not extensive). The oval dish which has crazing to the underside also, there is some yellowing to the rim of the oval dish. It is not very often that a set of 40 pieces is available, complete and without damage.
