Vintage Japanese Zohiko Kyoto Style Lacquerware Coffee Set & Tray

Offered for sale is this fine Japanese, Zohiko lacquerware coffee set. Zohiko are renowned for producing high quality products and a store still operates in Kyoto today.

Indeed, more information regarding the history of Zohiko, from its beginnings in 1661 to present day is detailed on their website. This charming set dates from the middle to late 20. Century and features a tray, 6 cups, 6 saucers, 6 gilt coloured teaspoons, a sugar bowl with lid, coffee pot and milk/cream jug. Constructed from wood with a gloss black lacquered finish and gold coloured detailing.

Zohiko marks are present throughout. The milk/cream jug has a slight crack and the handle has been glued back on at some point. However, the damage is not immediately obvious. Otherwise, with the exception of a few very minor marks and nibbles, the set is in good condition; appears to have been unused. Tray Measures 19 inches x 7 ½ inches.
