Beautiful antique porcelain coffee cup, saucer and silver spoon set from F. D & Co in white, with a printed turquoise pattern and gilt detail, presented in a shagreen presentation box with satin and velvet interior. The box has a label from E.
P Mallory & Son in Bath. We suspect this set is from the early 1900s. Item is in good used condition considering age. Saucers have some rubs to gilt edges and to branding on base but no chips, cracks or crazing. They are a little dull / grubby in places.
Cups are all lovely and clean inside but dull / grubby to the exterior. Expected rubs to bases, gilt on rim and handles rubbed in places. One cup has 3 cracks on the inside which can be seen all the way through but no other chips, cracks or crazing.
Spoons are sterling silver with hallmarks - flower, lion, F. The enamel is excellent although the silver could do with a good polish. Please note the colour of the set is a lovely turquoise - the photos seem to appear a slightly darker blue. The box is shagreen on wood.
Still nice and solid although the shagreen has started to come away / tear in places. The cream velvet and satin lining is heavily stained and browned with age.
One clasp does up but the other does not lie flat. Box size - 38 x 31 x 10 cm.
Cup - D - 5.5, H - 5.5 cm. Saucer - D - 11 cm. Spoon - L - 10 cm.
