3.25 Diameter (8.5cm). Gold Diamond was the first of the Portmeirion graphic patterns and was designed in 1961 by Susan Williams-Ellis.
The hand applied Gold Diamond range was worked in gold, platinum and bronze, in six different geometric designs. They were very expensive to produce in both labour and metallic lustre costs and so production was soon switched to a transfer print version, of which this is one, being produced in 1965. Gold Diamond was only worked on coffee ware and a few jug shapes and is highly collectable. All of the circles on all of the pieces are gold. Due to light reflection some look platinum in the photos, but all are gold.In very good vintage condition. Has been kept in storage since originally being gifted as a wedding present.
Light crazing commensurate with age and the ground. Pattern and Colours remain vibrant and intact with absolutely minimal markings. Hand applied transfer print to the Coffee Pot slightly curves towards the spout. A beautiful and rarely available set. Once Treasured; Now Ready to be Treasured Again.
