Rare Midcentury Coffee set Gold Signal Susan Williams Ellis for Portmeirion VGC. The coffee pot is 28cm tall, (30.5cm with lid on), 11.2cm in diameter across the top, & 9cm across the base. It measures 19cm from end of the spout to edge of the handle. It has a tiny chip under the top edge (photo 14), & there is a glazing flaw at the base, below the handle (photo 15), where it is slightly bumpy. The cups are 8cm tall, 7.5cm across the top, & 6cm across base.
They measure 9cm from rim to handle edge opposite. In very good used condition, with 2 of them having a single fleabite on the upper rim (photos 16 & 17). The black saucers are 13.2cm in diameter, and the tops are in excellent condition. There are a few signs on wear on the edges & the underside. The Gold Signal variation seems to be particularly rare, although there are other, similar styles (Gold Signs, Gold Flame & Gold Check, for example). But I have never seen any more of these. Commensurate with age, there is some crazing, and minor scratches, but nothing to detract from the overall appeal!
