Vintage Portmerion Pottery Coffee Set And Saucers In Rare gold Section Design

  

Coffee set in vintage Gold Section design, part of the Gold Six Collection by Susan Williams-Ellis. The set consists of 12 pieces in total: 10 Pieces in Excellent Condition: (5 taller mugs, 3 shorter mugs, 1 taller jug, 1 pot and 6 saucers) with no chips, cracks, or significant gold rubbing. 2 Pieces with Minor Chips: (1 taller mug and 1 shorter mug). These designs are quite rare to find.

This daring set of abstract designs was marketed as either a complete set of the same designs or what is known as a harlequin set, that being one of each of the six designs as a set. The design was expensive to reproduce and suffered from over enthusiastic cleaning, causing the gold to be rubbed. Items from this range with bright and shiny motifs are very sought after and command high prices.
