Atelier Forjaz was one of the foremost ceramic artists of the 1950's in Brazil and his work is highly collectable, rarely coming up for sale. He is best known for his geometric shapes and his use of both monochrome and vibrant colours.
This set comprises of four black and white small demitasse cups and saucers, a lidded sugar bowl and a milk or cream jug. All are white with black fir trees and black accents. Both the milk jug and sugar bowls also have a black deer in the foreground. It has a nod to both the Crown Devon Stockholm pattern and Ridgeway Homemaker, both of which are of the same period. It is typically Art Deco Revival of the 1950's, with simple lines and highlights, which give it a timeless look. The cups are 5 cm or 2" high and 5 cm or 2" diameter at the top.
The saucers are 12.5 cm or 5 in diameter. The sugar bowl is 8 cm high or 3.5" and 7 cm or 2.5" diameter. Finally, the milk jug is 12.5 cm or 5" high and 5 cm or 2" in diameter.
