ORIGIN The Desert Rose pattern was first introduced in 1940 by Gladding, McBean and Co. In California, USA, under the Franciscan brand. Production later moved to England in 1984 and then to China in 2000. POPULARITY This pattern gained significant popularity through advertising campaigns in the 1940s and 1950s, featuring Hollywood celebrities, and was even chosen for use in the White House by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.
