The Spode Persia Green coffee set, pattern Y8018, is a refined example of Mid-Century Modern design from 1961. Created by David Jackson of the Royal College of Art, the pattern features an intricate olive green and gold geometric motif.
This design was famously inspired by the ornate borders of a Persian carpet, offering a sophisticated blend of traditional artistry and 1960s minimalism. Crafted from fine English bone china each piece is finished with a hand-painted gold rim, elevating the collection from everyday tableware to a high-end presentation service. The "Royal College" shape provides a sleek, tall silhouette that was highly popular during its production run from 1962 to 1977.What makes this specific set particularly rare is the inclusion of the original Spode presentation box. This gray, shagreen-textured case was used for luxury gift sets and significantly increases the set's appeal. The set consists of six sups and six side plates.
The set is in a wonderful condition because it hasn't been used. The box has some slight age related wear such as some light internal staining and wear to the outside and also one of the clasps has come off. It is approximately 10cm high and 39cm in length.
