This listing includes FREE UK P&P. Still in its original box, this 18 piece tea set comprises. The plates are a gorgeous bright retro blue and the white cups have a Quant floral style blue and mustard brown transfer print which is totally typical of its period. Although light blue and brown is also a popular modern colour scheme and this set may look just as good to add a retro twist to modern decor as it would in a full on 70s style room. It could also be the perfect prop for any production set in the 60s or 70s.
All the cups are stamped Staffordshire Potteries underneath and have Made in England molded into them. The plates and saucers are stamped in green underneath with the words. The also have dates on each of them with several different months in the year 73. I imagine it reached the shops in time for Christmas in 1973 and may well have been wrapped under a tree when Slade were at Number 1 with Merry Xmas Everybody. However, it is still in its box, possibly never used, maybe used and packed away again.
The box shows its age much more than the tableware does. It is a little grubby and the cellophane has come unstuck on one side. The china is in great condition and I have put it through my dishwasher. Some of it has crazing in the glaze but there are no chips or cracks. It is a rare design, which is very collectable and unusual to find complete in its box.A wonderful gift idea for anyone with a retro theme home. #1930s #Susie cooper #Kitchenalia #retro #salad plates #tableware #dinner plates #crescent #Burgundy #Polka Dot #1950s #Burslem #Crown works #Leaping deer #earthenware.
