A vibrant Union Z Czechoslovakian coffee set, produced between the 1920s and 1930s, finished in a warm yellow glaze with hand-decorated fruit motifs and gilt highlights - a classic example of inter-war Art Deco export porcelain. This is a rare near-complete 11-piece set, including a coffee pot with lid, milk jug, sugar bowl, four cups and five matching saucers (one spare).

Most surviving Union Z sets today appear as single cups or mismatched trios, making this ensemble unusually intact and highly collectible. Its cheerful colouring and graceful proportions make it both a display piece and a practical service when used with care. Union Z was one of several trademarks used by EPIAG (Erste Böhmische Porzellan-Industrie AG) - a consortium of Bohemian porcelain factories formed to coordinate Czechoslovakia's early-20th-century exports. Identified refined domestic porcelain produced for export between the 1920s and 1930s, prized for its lively enamel colours and delicate gilding. Export largely ceased after 1939 due to wartime occupation and trade restrictions.

Collectors value Union Z for its blend of Continental artistry and everyday usability. Surviving complete or near-complete sets are scarce, many having been dispersed during wartime relocations. In the inter-war years, Czechoslovakia was one of Europe's foremost porcelain exporters. Makers such as Union Z, Ditmar-Urbach and Victoria embraced Art Deco styling, bold enamel tones and domestic still-life motifs to appeal to British and American buyers.

Many Bohemian porcelain makers, including Union Z, Ditmar-Urbach and Victoria, were later absorbed into what is now Czech territory, even though some pre-1939 maps placed them elsewhere.
