Limoges W Guerin Hand-Signed Tea Set, family owned. This covered teapot, pitcher and covered sugar bowl were in my parents' collection. My mother was an exemplary hostess. Her beautiful tableware pieces came from her travels, or were handed down from her mother, or were gifts from friends who knew what she loved. This se t has rich floral bouquets, but it is the angled handles that make the design exceptional, conjuring a trellised arbor in a summer garden.

The background color of the porcelain is hard to capture accurately in a photo, but it moves with subtlety from white to ivory to pale aqua. The set would be considered "mint" -- no chips, cracks, crazing, scratches or stains -- were it not for substantial loss of the fragile gold around each rim. The teapot with cover stands 5-1/2 inches high, the creamer 3-3/4 inches, and the covered sugar bowl 4-3/4 inches. This is a truly lovely set and an exquisite example of "old" Limoges.
